The Virginia Motor Speedway is a 1/2 mile dirt racetrack, located in Saluda, Virginia. Races are typically held once a week from March through October. The grandstands have a current capacity of 4,000 people, with an estimated planned expansion to 10,000 seats.

The treatment process for this facility includes a large scale septic tank (22,500 gallons), a flow equalization tank (22,500 gallons), the AdvanTex processing tank (5,000 gallons), six AdvanTex AX-20 Treatment Modules, and a Pump Chamber (5,000 gallon) to dose the low pressure distribution dispersal field.

Because the racetrack only operates once a week, we store the sewage generated by the grandstands, the pit area, and the office space (maximum of 22,500 gallons) and release a measured amount (3,750 gallons) to the AdvanTex Processing Tank every day for treatment and disposal. The AdvanTex Modules process the raw sewage, and a measured dose is allowed to be pumped to the low pressure distribution dispersal area. The entire system can be monitored by the operator (Coastal Plains) remotely by computer, to manage alarm conditions, pump timing modes, pump overrides, etc.

Specifications:
Peak Sewage Flow:22,500 gallons
Estimated Percolation Rate:55 minutes per inch (Class III Soils)
Septic Tank:22,500 gallon - concrete top seam
Flow Equalization Tank:22,500 gallons
Processing Tank:5,000 gallon - top seam
Pump Chamber:5,000 gallon - top seam
AdvanTex Module:AX-20 - six units
Modules are tied together in pairs. Each module is time dosed for 30 seconds and rested for 9.5 minutes
Disposal Method:Low Pressure Distribution that is time dosed from the pump chamber.

These photographs were taken over a period of several weeks as we placed the system on-line and set the operating parameters. I do not have any photographs of the actual installation of the system, as it occured prior to my involvement as the maintenance provider / operator.
